The Weekly Write-Up - November, Week 1

The last week has seen an increasing number of show-stopper bugs fixed, and a strong focus on tidying up the mod to make it ready for beta.

Thanks to everyone who added comments to the last news posting.  The general consensus seems to be that you just want to be kept more informed on the status of the mod, and for us to elaborate on what the changes on the change log actually mean.  Going forward, the MTA / QA Team will attempt to provide a weekly update on the current progress, but if we miss a week or two don't kill us!

The largest change since the last update was a fix to akimbo weapons, which has plagued MTA:SA DM since the early days.  The bug often resulted in remote players shooting upward on your screen while running, where on the local players screen they were shooting directly at you.  As you can imagine, this caused a large amount of grief during battles as the shots were not being registered properly on remote machines, therefore causing the remote players to not be shot (causing desync.).

A few vehicle changes were made which resulted in fixes when warping players into vehicles when the vehicle has been streamed out (no longer in your current view).  Some vehicle jacking bugs were also squashed, which resulted in desync. fixes.  A long-standing issue was also fixed with the toggle enter/exit vehicle control, which sometimes resulted in the inability to enter or exit a vehicle.

GUI functions were reworked a bit to make their usage a little more straight-forward, and also tidy them up properly when a resource ends.

Outside of that, a lot of little changes were made and a ton of internal bug reports were resolved.

Picture / Video Requests: I do not plan on putting any pictures or videos in my news posts.  For pictures navigate to the POTD section where you can find pictures posted by the QA Team.

GTA IV Release: MTA:SA DM will be released before GTA IV, so I hope we can put an end to all of those comments.

Sometimes I still find it kind of hard to believe that a group of dedicated GTA fans are out there making a mod that is so hard to produce.

I mean, it's not like you guys are just simply messing around with the "main.scm" or something, this is very technical shite you guys are doing.
Very time consuming, and not to mention, profitless (I think?).

The whole idea amazes me, it really does.

Anyways, thank you again for the update, and once again, it is much apreciated.

It would be nice to read about bugs that you are having trouble fixing. I have been looking at the fixes log since it was first introduced and I could see that you have tried to fix that enter/exit bug for some time now. I just think it would be nice to hear about some of the bugs that are funny, hard to fix and the ones that are holding back the release of MTA:DM.

If you are planing on posting a "Write-up" every week, you could put in some of the bugs that you have fix and one or two bugs that you are having trouble with. You could tell us what they are, what you think causes it and how you plan to fix them.

Well i think i have stared to go off track a bit so i would just like to say thanks for the update!

Couldn't be waiting for longer!

If MTA will come out before GTA IV then we have a half year to go, guys!

Also I'd love you to make really good AC which could be updating automatically after you make an update. I don't want to stop playing MTA soon after release just like I did with SA:MP because of some "massive waves" of cheaters! Something like Punkbuster could stop the hacker for some time.
That's the only think that I worry about... Anti-Cheat! Because it's the cheater who ruins the whole game! I've played GTA (on PC and PS2) since it was released and probably will not stop so fast.

Its good that you fixed that sync problem when players warp into cars, SA:DM still has all of the sync problems.

Anyone who still plays SA:DM after this is inferior.
